About Us

__________

In 2008, the pastors, elders, deacon board members of Bethel Pentecostal Church, and all their spouses met together for a weekend to answer the question, “What are we all about?”

Our church had already been a part of the Edson community, as far back as 1917, when two Christian families started Cottage Meetings.   By 1920 Pastor Robert and Mrs. Stilton were called to pastor a new church and in 1925, we became affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.   But on that weekend in 2008, we regrouped to clarify our vision and mission.  What unites and guides our church in it’s unique place in the world wide Christian Church?   We drafted this mission statement:

We exist to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

During the process of rebranding our church’s online presence and logo in 2020,
three words were chosen to capture that same vision.

Walk     Grow      Lead

All of our people and all of the people we reach out to are first called to walk with Christ.  Mark records Jesus spending a night in prayer and then selecting the 12 disciples.   “He appointed twelve–designating them apostles–that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.”  Mark 3:14-15 their first assignment was to “be with him”.

But he intended them to come to a maturity whereby he could send them out.  The word “apostles”, which he designated them to be, means “sent out ones”. Jesus expected them to grow spiritually to where he could send them out and begin to lead others along this same discipleship path.

We invite you to walk with Jesus, grow in spiritual maturity toward leading others to begin this pathway with you and with us.  All of our ministries are focused in this direction. Will you join us?
