McComb Family Prayer Letter

Update From Ottawa - Post Move - February 26, 2026

I wanted to send a quick update and thank you for praying for us through this recent transition. We’ve now moved Hospitality House to a new location closer to campus. The move went smoothly, and while we’re still working through boxes, all is well. We’re tired but encouraged. The new space is a much better fit for both ministry and family life, and we’re grateful for how the Lord has provided.

We’ve already begun using the house. Just last week, three missionary students from Singapore (currently studying in Toronto) stayed with us, and together we hosted student gatherings both in our home and around the neighbourhood during their visit. It was a great way to dedicate the space to ministry right away.

In the coming months, we'll be shifting toward meeting more frequently with smaller groups of students around the table. Smaller settings make it easier to build trust and have meaningful conversations about Jesus.

Additionally, Gail continues to invest deeply in one-on-one discipleship and in co-leading English Corner on campus, which remains one of our primary connection points with new students. I’m also continuing with prayer and fellowship activities on Parliament Hill, and I’m entering discussions with our church about getting involved in youth ministry (which would be new territory for me). The kids are doing well too. August and Georgia recently returned from a youth retreat feeling refreshed and renewed, and Rosie's social calendar keeps us hopping!

If you could continue praying for our health, for strength and endurance, and that we would remain deeply rooted in Christ as we minister, we would really appreciate it.

Thank you again for standing with us. We feel upheld by your prayers and care.

Yours in Christ,

Colin and Gail

How You Can Pray
  • Please pray that God gives us the strength and endurance to continue this work in the months ahead.
  • Pray that we find good medical care for Gail and Georgia, as this remains a significant concern.
  • Pray that students who are seeking truth find safe opportunities to explore faith without fear.
  • Pray that the Lord provides what is needed to sustain this ministry and meet the practical needs that arise. (Another $1500 in monthly support should be enough to sustain this ministry indefinitely).
  • Pray that we remain faithful to the Gospel, never wavering in love and commitment to those we serve.
We are so grateful for your prayers, encouragement, and support in all its forms. This ministry exists because of God’s faithfulness and the generosity of those who believe in its mission. Thank you for standing with us. We couldn’t do this without you!
In Christ's abiding love,

Colin and Gail

P.S. As tax return season approaches, would you consider using part of your refund to bless this ministry with a one-time gift? Every contribution helps us provide international students with a safe place to explore the Gospel. Thank you for prayerfully considering this!

 Programs at Hospitality House -
March 29,2026

One thing we’ve become increasingly convinced of is this: the most meaningful ministry doesn't happen through programs. It happens through people.

Students are not primarily looking for events to attend. They're looking for people who will take the time to know them, listen to them, and walk with them.

That is why we keep things simple:
  • We open our home.
  • We share meals.
  • We make space for real conversations.
Recently, a group of Iranian students joined us around our dinner table. They spoke openly about what's happening back home: the uncertainty, the recent military strikes, and the cautious hope they carry for the future of their country. There is a real longing in them to understand the world beyond what they have known. We listened, we learned, and we were able to share the hope we have in Christ.

This week, we also spent time with someone who had recently been deeply involved in a very rigid Christian sect, then walked away. Now, he is trying to make sense of the Gospel outside of that framework. We opened Scripture together, answered questions, and walked with him as he works through it.

These are not programming moments, but relational ones.

We take great care not to treat students like projects. Rather, we welcome them as friends. And in that context, walls come down, trust builds, and real curiosity about Christ begins to grow.

Since moving to our new Hospitality House location, we have seen more students drop by, had more conversations begin, and experienced more opportunities to share the Gospel naturally. This kind of ministry is slower and more relational. It takes time. It is also where we have seen the Gospel take root most deeply.

I want to be upfront about the reason for this email.

This ministry exists and continues to grow because people like you: people who believe in what we're doing and choose to support our work financially.

Whether you have been faithfully giving for years, have given from time to time, or have not yet had the opportunity to contribute, I would like to ask if you would prayerfully consider setting aside a portion of your tax refund to support this work.

On average, it costs $340 per semester to minister to one student. You can adopt a student for:
  • $340 for one semester
  • $680 for the academic year
  • $1,020 for a full year, or
  • $85 per month for ongoing support

Your support makes space for relationships where the gospel can be heard, understood, and lived out. Thank you for the role you play in making this work possible. We're grateful for you.

Yours in Christ,
