Day 3 of Hurt and Healing

Forgiveness Opens Doors to Freedom

Reading: Genesis 45:1-8; Colossians 3:13

Joseph had every right to seek revenge when his brothers stood before him, desperate and vulnerable. They had betrayed him, sold him into slavery, and destroyed his youth. Yet Joseph chose forgiveness. He recognized that what others intended for harm, God intended for good. Forgiveness doesn't erase the past or minimize the pain, but it releases you from the prison of bitterness. When you forgive, you're not saying what happened was okay; you're saying God is bigger than the betrayal. Unforgiveness keeps you chained to the offense, but forgiveness sets you free to move forward into what God has for you. What God can do through a forgiving heart is far greater than anything others can do through hurt.

Reflection: Who do you need to forgive? What would it look like to release them and trust God with the outcome?
