Day 1 of Hurt and Healing

God Is Close to the Brokenhearted

Reading: Psalm 34:18; Genesis 37:1-11

Every family carries stories marked by tension and pain. Joseph's family was broken before he was even born—filled with favoritism, jealousy, and betrayal. Yet in the midst of family dysfunction, God remained present. When you feel crushed by family hurt or relational wounds, remember that the Lord draws near to the brokenhearted. Your pain doesn't disqualify you from God's love; it actually positions you for His comfort. Today, acknowledge the hurt you've been carrying. Don't hide it or minimize it. Bring your broken heart honestly before God, knowing He specializes in being close to those who are wounded.

Reflection: What family hurt have you been carrying alone? How might inviting God into that pain change your perspective today?
