Day 3 of Temptation, Rejection, and Redemption

 A Heart After God's Own

Reading
: 2 Samuel 11:1-12:13; Psalm 51:1-12

David's sin was grievous—adultery and murder—yet he is remembered as a man after God's own heart. Why? Because when confronted, David didn't make excuses or try to fix things himself. He fell before God in genuine repentance, crying out, "I have sinned against the Lord." David understood that sin is ultimately an offense against God, not just a mistake with consequences. His prayer in Psalm 51 shows a broken and contrite heart, the very thing God desires. When we fail, we must resist the urge to minimize our sin or manage the damage ourselves. Instead, we must come before God with honesty, humility, and a willingness to be restored by His grace alone.
