Day 2 of Peace, Finding Rest in the Midst of Chaos

Peace That Doesn't Make Sense

Reading: John 14:25-27

Jesus promised peace to His disciples just before His arrest and crucifixion—hardly peaceful circumstances. He said, "I do not give to you as the world gives." The world offers peace through favorable circumstances, comfort, and security. Jesus offers something radically different: peace that exists despite chaos, fear, and uncertainty. This is the peace that transcends understanding, the peace that settled on disciples in a locked room, the peace that sustains believers in hospital waiting rooms and dark valleys. You don't manufacture this peace through positive thinking or self-help strategies. It comes from knowing Jesus intimately and trusting that your future is secure in Him, regardless of present circumstances. His presence is your peace.

Reflection: When have you experienced inexplicable peace in difficult circumstances? How did that peace reveal God's presence?
