Day 5 of Small Beginnings, Persistent Faith

Trusting the God Who Is Able

Reading
: Ephesians 3:14-21

The apostle Paul closes his prayer in Ephesians 3 with a declaration that should reshape how we approach every unanswered prayer and every buried seed: God is able to do far beyond what we could ask or even imagine, and he does it through his power working within us. This is the foundation of persistent prayer and patient waiting. We do not persist because we are strong enough to keep going. We persist because the one we are praying to is infinitely greater than our circumstances. The mustard seed does not grow by its own effort. The widow's justice did not come through her own strength. Both received what they needed because something greater was at work. Trust the God who is able.

Reflection Questions:
  • In what area of your life do you most need to be reminded that God's power is greater than your limitations?
  • How does understanding God's ability change the way you pray and the way you wait?
