Day 4 of Humility Finds Us

God Meets Us Where We Are

Reading
: 2 Chronicles 7:14, Luke 15:11-24

The promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is striking in its simplicity. God does not ask his people to arrive already healed and whole. He asks them to humble themselves, pray, seek his face, and turn from what is wrong. Then he promises to hear, forgive, and restore. The father in the parable of the prodigal son does not wait for his child to clean up before running toward him. He runs while the son is still a long way off. Whether you arrive today closer to the Pharisee or the tax collector, God is not waiting for you to figure it out. He is already moving toward you.

Reflection: What would it look like today to seek God's face rather than simply seeking his assistance with your circumstances?
