Day 2 of Cultivating A Heart For Harvest

The Condition of the Path
Reading
:Hebrews 3:7-8, 12-15

The writer of Hebrews warns against hardening the heart when God speaks, urging readers to encourage one another daily so that no one becomes hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

A hardened heart does not happen overnight. It forms gradually, through repeated choices to resist, ignore, or delay responding to God. Like a well-worn footpath where nothing grows, a calloused heart leaves no room for truth to take root. Jesus identified this as the first and perhaps most dangerous soil condition -- not because the seed is weak, but because the ground has been closed off entirely. The enemy does not need to work hard where the heart is already shut. The good news is that hardness is not permanent. God specializes in breaking up ground that seems beyond repair. But it requires honesty -- a willingness to ask, "Have I closed off any part of my heart to what God is saying?"

Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have been resistant to what God is asking of you? What has contributed to that resistance?
