Day 5 of Cultivating A Heart For Harvest

The Fertile Heart and the Hundredfold Harvest
Reading:  Galatians 6:7-10

Paul reminds believers that whatever a person sows, they will also reap. Those who sow to please the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit, and he urges them not to grow weary in doing good, because the harvest will come at the right time for those who do not give up.

The fertile heart is not a perfect heart. It is a receptive one -- one that hears God's word, wrestles with it honestly, and chooses to understand and obey it. The result, Jesus says, is a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundredfold. That kind of return is not produced by human effort alone. It is the fruit of a heart that has remained soft, stayed rooted, and kept clearing away the distractions long enough for God to do what only He can do. You are not a vault meant to store truth. You are a garden meant to grow it. The harvest God wants to produce through your life is greater than you can imagine. But it begins with the quiet, daily decision to keep your heart open to Him.

Reflection:  Looking at the four soil conditions from this week, which one most closely describes where your heart is right now? What would it look like to move toward fertile ground?
