Day 1 of Love Calls Us Home

The Distant Land

Reading
: Luke 15:11-16; James 1:14-15

Most people do not end up far from God in a single dramatic moment. The journey away happens gradually -- one ignored prompting, one quiet compromise, one hardened disappointment at a time. The younger son did not wake up expecting to feed pigs in a foreign land. He simply followed his desires one decision at a time until he found himself somewhere he never intended to be. Spiritual distance can feel normal once we have adjusted to it. We learn to smile when asked how we are doing. We maintain our routines while the emptiness quietly grows. Today, ask God to show you honestly where you are. You cannot change the direction of your journey until you are willing to name where you have been walking.

Personal Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have been slowly drifting? What small compromise or neglected habit began the journey?
