Day 3 of Small Beginnings, Persistent Faith Copy

The Discipline of Persistent Prayer

Reading
: Luke 18:1-8

Jesus told the story of a widow who refused to stop asking. She had a just cause, a real need, and an unjust judge who cared nothing for her. Yet she persisted. She returned again and again until the judge relented, not out of compassion, but out of sheer exhaustion. Jesus then draws the contrast: if an uncaring judge responds to persistence, how much more will a loving and just God respond to the cries of his people? Persistent prayer is not about wearing God down. It is an act of faith. Every time you return to God with the same request, you are declaring that you still believe he is able and that you have not given up on him.

Reflection Questions:
  • Is there a prayer you have stopped praying because it felt unanswered for too long?
  • What does returning to God repeatedly with the same request say about the condition of your faith?
