Day 2 of A Life Built To Last
The Foundation Beneath Everything
Reading: Psalm 18:1-2, 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
A foundation is invisible once the house is built, but it determines everything. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3 that no foundation can be laid other than Jesus Christ himself. The Psalms describe God as a rock, a fortress, a stronghold -- language that points to permanence and immovability. We often spend enormous energy decorating the walls of our lives while neglecting what lies beneath. Character, integrity, and faithfulness are not impressive from the outside, but they are what keep us standing when everything shakes. Build slowly. Build deeply. Build on the one foundation that cannot be moved.
Reflection Questions
What does your current foundation actually rest on -- comfort, reputation, routine, or Christ?
