Day 3 of A Life Built To Last
Storms Are Not a Sign of Failure
Reading: Isaiah 43:1-3, John 16:33
Jesus never promised his followers a life without storms. He promised presence within them. Isaiah 43 offers a remarkable assurance -- that when you pass through deep waters, God will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. This is not a promise of calm weather. It is a promise of companionship in the flood. The storms that come against a well-built life are not indicators that something has gone wrong. They are simply the weather of a broken world. Your difficulty today is not proof of God's absence. It may be the very place where his faithfulness becomes most visible.
Reflection Questions
How has a past storm in your life ultimately revealed God's faithfulness rather than his distance?
