Day 5 of A Life Built To Last
Deep Roots, Enduring Faith
Reading: Jeremiah 17:7-8, Colossians 2:6-7
Jeremiah paints a picture of the person who trusts in God as a tree planted beside a river -- one whose roots reach down to the water and whose leaves stay green even in drought. Colossians calls believers to be rooted and built up in Christ, overflowing with gratitude. Deep roots are not formed in comfortable seasons. They grow when the soil is difficult and the conditions are harsh -- when the roots must reach further to find what they need. The faith that sustains you through loss, uncertainty, and grief is the faith that was built quietly, steadily, long before the storm arrived. Keep growing downward. The depth will show when it matters most.
Reflection Questions
What spiritual disciplines are helping you grow deeper roots right now, and what might you add to strengthen them?
