Day 5 of Who is My Neighbor?
Now Go and Do the Same
Reading: Luke 10:37; Matthew 25:34-40; 1 John 3:16-18
Jesus did not end the parable with a theological conclusion. He ended it with a command: now go and do the same. The call to love your neighbor is not a concept to be admired from a distance -- it is a mission to be lived out in the ordinary moments of everyday life. As the sermon reminded us, the service that costs us is the service that counts. Joining the kingdom mission of Jesus means being willing to give our time, our resources, our comfort, and our energy for the sake of others. The love of God in you is not meant to stay in you. It is meant to move through you.
